Testing and Assessment Center

The Testing and Assessment Center at DMTC provides a variety of services to the community. In addition to testing and assessment tools, the Testing and Assessment Center also offers computerized tutorials in math concepts and applications, reading comprehension, language, and spelling skills.
The services at the Testing and Assessment Center are available to the students at DMTC and to the community. Individuals may request that test results be sent to any educational institution. Information on pricing and scheduling is available from the Testing and Assessment Center at (970) 874-6565. The following tests are currently available. Additional tests and assessments are being added.
ACCUPLACER
ACCUPLACER placement tests are placement tests required by many community colleges, four year colleges, and technical schools for incoming college students. The tests provide a fast, accurate determination of whether a student has the skills to take a freshman course, or would benefit most from developmental work. The tests include general assessments in reading comprehension, sentence skills, and mathematics. Individuals enrolling in colleges requiring the ACCUPLACER tests may contact the college they will be attending to make arrangements to do their testing here. The ACCUPLACER tests are computer-based.
DANTES
The DANTES Subject Standardized Tests are a series of tests covering a wide range of introductory college-level academic, vocational/technical, and business subjects. Some of the tests relate to areas of special interest such as astronomy, anthropology, and foreign languages. Other tests cover skills that may have been learned on the job, such as financial accounting, banking, personnel supervision, insurance, and technical writing. DANTES tests are computer-based.
DISCOVER®
DISCOVER® is a series of three assessments of career-relevant interests, abilities, and job values designed to help individuals consider career options that are a good match for them. In addition to the assessments, DISCOVER® provides the user with information to help him/her identify his/her strengths and needs, make good career decisions, and build a plan based on his/her personal profile. The Career and Learning Center at DMTC can provide assistance with career exploration and training.    DISCOVER® assessments are computer-based.
High-Stakes Testing
The Testing and Assessment Center at DMTC is an authorized ACT High-Stakes Testing CenterSM. delivering a variety of licensing and certification assessments. (See ACT Testing and Training Center for more information.)
TABE
The TABE (Tests of Adult Basic Education) are tests designed to measure achievement of basic reading, language, math, and spelling skills commonly found in adult basic education. The tests are specifically designed for adults and use questions and illustrations that reflect real-life situations. The TABE is required for entry into all programs at DMTC. The TABE is generally administered as a computer-based test, but is available in printed format.
