We can provide assistance to help students make career plans and develop a realistic occupational training program. Our Testing and Assessment Center offers a variety of tools to measure aptitudes, interests, and abilities. The DANTES Subject Standardized Tests are a series of tests covering a wide range of introductory college-level academic, vocational/technical, and business subjects. Some of the tests relate to areas of special interest such as astronomy, anthropology, and foreign languages. Other tests cover skills that may have been learned on the job, such as financial accounting, banking, personnel supervision, insurance, and technical writing.
Any student who is having difficulty in his/her career or technical training program may request individual assistance. Students may schedule time in our Testing and Assessment Center to work on computerized tutorials to help them increase math concepts and applications, reading comprehension, language, and spelling skills. Remedial math and English assistance is also available through our Career and Learning Center.
To enhance a student’s portfolio, the WorkKeys® Assessment will be administered during a student’s final term. WorkKeys® is a national standard for measuring, communicating, and assessing basic workplace skills. WorkKeys® shows students, and prospective employers, their skill levels in eight foundational skill areas: applied math, reading, writing, listening, teamwork, locating information, observations, and applied technology. Many of our programs have been profiled and the skill levels needed for successful entry-level job placement have been determined. See Table 5: Required WorkKeys® Levels on page 18 for the suggested levels.

The completion of a vocational program cannot guarantee employment. Our instructors and staff will provide job placement assistance to students who have met the objectives of their occupational training program, and who are ready for employment. Students must actively participate in their job search to find a successful job placement.
We make every effort to comply with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Advising, tutorial assistance, and individual vocational guidance and planning are available to help students who have special needs. Our campus is constructed to accommodate handicapped students.
